Art Shimamura is a Professor Emeritus of Psychology, University of California, Berkeley and has spent the past 30 years studying human memory and the brain. Throughout his scientific career, Art has indulged his creative side through the art of photography. He has exhibited works at the Townsend Center for the Humanities (Berkeley, CA) and at the 2014 Biannual Congress of the International Association on Empirical Aesthetics (New York, NY). In 2008, he was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship to explore links between art, mind, and brain. He is author of Experiencing Art: In the Brain of the Beholder and the satiric novel, State of the Arts. Art currently lives on the island of Oahu where he continues his photography and writings about the intersections between science and the arts.
